The Single Most Important Rule on Social Networking Sites If you understand this critical rule on Social Media sites, then you are on your way to understanding the incredible power of Attraction Marketing.

Check out the video at the top of this post, it’s called “Social Media Revolution”. It is astounding how much Social Networking sites have influenced our lives in the last few years.

Here are just a few quick facts within this video that I found quite fascinating and really shows the paradigm shift in how we do business and market to others:

  • 1 out of 8 couples married in the U.S. last year met via social media
  • Years to Reach 50 millions Users:  Radio (38 Years), TV (13 Years), Internet (4 Years), iPod (3 Years)…Facebook added 100 million users in less than 9 months…iPhone applications hit 1 billion in 9 months.
  • Social Media has overtaken porn as the #1 activity on the Web
  • % of companies using LinkedIn as a primary tool to find employees….80%
  • 25% of search results for the World’s Top 20 largest brands are links to user-generated content
  • 78% of consumers trust peer recommendations-Only 14% trust advertisements
  • 24 of the 25 largest newspapers are experiencing record declines in circulation because we no longer search for the news, the news finds us.
  • The #2 largest search engine in the world is YouTube

No doubt about it, Social Networking has changed the quantity and quality of our relationships today. It is estimated that by 2012, 600 million people will be logged on to social networking sites.

What does this all mean to us as network marketers?

Get on the bandwagon if you haven’t already!

Social Networking sites are a FREE way to connect with incredible amounts of people. Afterall, we are in NETWORK marketing, developing relationships is the name of the game.

You may have heard the phrase “Your net worth is equal to the size of your network.”

However, use caution when entering these social arenas. Respect the people you are marketing to. Social networks are communities who thrive on relationships.

Here it is……the single, Most Important Rule to follow on Social Networking Sites: Never, EVER, go around pitching your business opportunity or product, you will not be welcome and could even possibly get banned.

Here are two examples of what I mean:

Enter Joe….Joe sends you a comment on Facebook about your photography and mentions he agrees with you on your post about the economy. You spark a mini friendship and add each other as friends. The next day Joe messages you and pitches his business opportunity. Joe seems kind of fake and desperate now. Not cool.

Enter Jill….Jill is a fellow network marketer messaging you on a group for network marketers.  She states she noticed you were struggling with how to approach prospects and suggests I check out BlackBelt Recruiting (and posts a link) for some free videos explaining how to more effectively get to know your prospect. I am likely to now add Jill as a friend and continue building our online friendship and possibly even purchasing some of the products she refers me to.

See the difference? One offers value, and one wants to make a quick buck off me.

It’s about relationships, and meaningful relationships develop over time. The best way to act on these sites is as if you were physically among friends.

It is my intention to very consistently keep you abreast of current developments and educate you on how to most effectively utilize FREE social media sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter to build relationships and hence eventually and very dynamically increase exposure to your network marketing business.
