Social Media the New Way of Doing BusinessI am sure it may come as no surprise to you that social media is here to stay and many brick and mortar businesses are turning frantically to it to market and build relationships with their current customers as well as winning over new customers.

Network marketing businesses are no exception. In fact, what better way to “network” than to do it where millions of people are already hanging out. Here are the facts:

  • 70 million users are on LinkedIn
  • 200 million active users on Facebook
  • 75 million users on Twitter
  • 200 billion videos are watched on YouTube per day

Not only is it a great way to reach millions of people, but when done right social media allows for attracting a targeted, highly qualified audience at which point you can continue building a relationship over time. And that, I feel, is the beauty of social media.

We need to meet people where they are at and build a relationship with them there. They are on Facebook catching up with old friends. They are on YouTube watching that funny video that has gone viral. They are on Twitter tweeting what they had for breakfast.  And they are on LinkedIn updating their work experience so recruiters can find them.

Go where your prospect is, and engage with them naturally, get to know them and talk about relevant topics. Identify what you have in common, share some personal information so you appear more human and not some spam-bot.

If there is one thing I could teach you, it would be this…..NEVER, EVER lead with your business opportunity or products and services. When you first meet someone at a party, you wouldn’t immediately share something which would require them to sign up under you and pay you money, would you? Meeting someone new on social media is no different. Take the necessary time to establish a relationship and build trust before you delve into your opportunity. People will take you much more seriously.

So I cannot stress to you enough that if you aren’t on social media yet or if you aren’t using it to to it’s best advantage, then you really are missing out on some amazing opportunities to connect with highly qualified prospects.
